FW 800 Returns on New 17" MacBook Pro

No PCIMA slot.
I know people are still looking
for 17" PowerBooks.
You would think Apple would
have had an adapter to sell??

Not having FW800 had to have been a hardware issue on the 15" that will hope be resolved with the next revision...this is something my friends and I had guessed, as it would be silly to do away with FW800...too many people bought in to external drives with it, and it was pretty well accepted.

Its apple choosing to go with PC Express slots rather then PCMCIA that is annoying.

The new 17" monitor is the way to go. The only thing I don't like is that the monitor is 1680X1050. Wish it were a bit more like 1600X1200!

I think that size is just a fuzz too big, and I thought that with the old ones too. Not sure why they didn't do that resolution on the 15.4" (it's what my Dell has), but I've been pleased to find that Final Cut apps fit just fine in the 1440x900.

my thoughs exactly, it would have been nice if the screen did WUXGA standard, which i dont think is too large of a problem for a 2700 dollar laptop, marketed for highend use such as video or Audio.

But i guess we cant complain because WSXGA does have plenty of room to work with.
