Funding/grants?

Hi, I am a student in high school. 2 of my friends and I have embarked on writing a film. Now, we aren't expecting loads of cash, but we were just wondering if there were any student/amateur film grants or companies willing to fund a film in the NJ area?

Any sites with a list of these would be great as well.

Thanks.

I really do not know of any grants directed specifically to filmakers for the sake of making a film. I would suggest that you consider shooting about a topic that would have the potential for government funding to be involved on some level. Typically, you would need to be shooting about some kind of subject matter in which government or independant organizations (profit or non-profit) feel that they can recover some kind of vested return on putting their money out for a film to be made. Many times this return comes in the form of educating the public or increasing awareness. Other times it comes in the form of proving a point or validating a hypothesis through the research that a well planned film project can provide.

Here is a link for searching through government grants

good luck
