Fuji X-T3 released

AF stuff starts at 1:28 in the video above. I've been doing workarounds / compensations for all the things that appear fixed in the new update. 100% did not expect that.

Pretty impressive. The only thing that's been bugging me is not having the ability to select from multiple faces to face track, just like my C200. Now my X-T3 will have that feature, thanks Fuji! Really impressesd with their Kaizen (continuous improvement) philosophy, they are making Canon look like Dinosaurs in this area. How long ago did I start that Canon C200 firmware update request thread and they've really not addressed hardly anything and probably won't ever. Simple things that could be addressed in firmware to make users experience better.

So let's take a look at how each manufacturer treats their users:
Canon - spend $7,500.00 - Pretty much completely ignores users needs and wants
Fujifilm - spend $1,500.00, Fuji puts out three firmware updates in less than 8 months to address specific user needs and wants with more improvements coming.
Holds a user summit with design engineers, solicits what features users wants, asks which lenses users wants most, has a true two-way dialog with users. Winning.

Canon, if Fuji gets serious and puts out a sub $10k digital cinema camera, you're going to lose significant market share to them.
And it'll be your own fault too because you could easily treat your users exactly how Fuji does with very little expense or effort.
But you won't. Because you're Canon. Great products, engineering, innovation but you don't nor ever seem to have really cared
what your buyers want and need. You put out a product, it's done. Take it or leave it. That's old school in the worst sense of the term.
I get it that you have market segmentation to protect, that's fine. It's the not fixing things that are really bugs/defects or just terrible
design, that could be fixed with updates. You seem intent in NOT doing that. That makes users jump ship.

Like I have said for 10 years, sometimes it's the little things.

Obviously the improvement is unquestionable, but the fact that the green box has no delay (or very little) just makes me personally very happy.

Spot on.

This is why I love Fuji.

Continuous improvement and listening to the end user.

It’s not rocket science.

I wonder if Fujifilm will ever implement RAW into their cameras.

Barely anyone knows this, but Hasselblad actually has two medium format cameras that shoot 4K RAW video.

If Fuji ever decided to include RAW in a 4K model update to their GFX 50S/R, maybe it would trickle its way down to the mirrorless'.

Pure magic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTZGGxxiItQ

If Fujifilm decides to implement RAW video, it'll mostly likely be a Bayer sensor camera with external ProRes RAW recording.

Fujifilm also showcased a list of "most requested" features, #8 1080/240P was the most voted one at the event:

I am amazed that Log Live View custom LUT implementation and waveform are not number one? Not even in the top nine most requested features? Are only still photographers who dabble in video shooting the X-T3? Most still people don't know what a waveform is and don't know what a LUT is.
Histogram is no substitute for waveform and shooting F-Log and having to attach a monitor or Ninja V to get it is lame.

Because vast majority of people who want those video features just post on forums and comment sections of websites. Fuji actually rarely read those. The proper way to let Fuji know about feature requests/bug reports is to contact them directly: http://www.fujifilm.com/contact/

Or call the very nice engineering team who I met at the X-H1 rollout. I have some business cards with contact info. Same guys who were just at the Fujifilm Forum.

Has anyone shot their X-T3 with the XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR along with the 1.4X Teleconvertor? I have an upcoming shoot where I will film wildlife that is hard to get very close to and I can rent the Sigma 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 OIS Sport or I can rent the Fuji lens and teleconvertor. If I rent the Fuji, I can only shoot it on my X-T3 but if I rent the Sigma, I can use it on my X-T3 with the Fringer and I can use it on my C200, allowing me to shoot RAW on the C200 and F-Log on the Fuji, grade both and compare. Tough choice.

On a side note, been printing at home some of my photos from my XT-3 from our NZ trip on the Canon Pixma100 and some Red River Metallic paper.

Have to say I am very impressed.

Beautiful stuff Matt. You are lucky to have gone to such a picturesque place with your X-T3. I need to try some stills, my sister in law wants some family portraits with their 2 year old twins, that will be a challenge as they are little wild animals who never stop running around ;-)
Have not tried the X-T3 yet with my Pocket Wizards and multiple flashes.

That Pixma100 printer often goes on sale after rebates for $49usd, you have to watch for it though as it usually only lasts for a day or two. Normally around the time of the photo shows. Haven't seen it on sale yet this year, but think I'm going to buy it the next time I see it for this nothing of a price. That deal normally comes with a package of Canon paper too.

Yeah I snagged it on B&H for basically $100 after the $250 rebate.

The printer is insane, and being able to do archival prints in my office is pretty sweet.

Not bad, to rent the Fuji 100-400mm and the 1.4X tele convertor for a weekend, $100.00, give or take. I think I will do that and will report back my results after the shoot on the 21/22nd of this month.

Can anyone tell me if they Know if any film grain was used on this project. The texture is amazing without being over done. If this is right off the camera I'm wondering what iso was used to produce this effect. Also is it the cine lens used on this project that has this film looking this sharp without the digital sharp look we're used to seeing from dslr shot material. I'm just noticing a drastic difference with the xt3 when the cine lenses are being used. the motion even looks better for some odd reason. any knowledge of behind the scenes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
