Fuji X-T3 released

I would guess no. My understanding of the 30 min clip limit is that devices that do record over 30 mins in a single "take" are classified as "camcorders" and thus subject to higher taxes and tariffs in certain territories. That's why pretty much all DSLR's, ILC's and other still cameras that can shoot video can only record up to 30 mins in a single take.

Oh man, how quickly we get spoiled, though. Less than a decade ago we were still shooting with professional $40K+ cameras that could still only record for ~30 mins at a time, due to tape length, and even the early days of solid state media. I remember I used to get a hold of these oddball "blue lid" DVCPro tapes sometimes(crazy expensive), from one of the nets I shoot for. They would go for ~45 mins in a VariCam. I thought I was in Heaven when I was shooting on those. Lol

The 30min limit will be removed in a future firmware update, no later than 1st July 2019, when the EU tax law gets fully eliminated.

That would make things interesting. If true, I wonder how many manufacturers would release updates to existing models, presuming they're still supported and could do it without overheating or other technical problems.

I bet Sony wont :(

Yeah why do that with older cameras when companies can use that as a marketing tool to get us to buy a new camera. It's that one hook they need to bump camera sales.

Is anyone making a Canon EF to X-mount FULLY functional adapter that includes aperture adjustment, IS and AF? Hello Metabones?
Seems like there are many of us who would dig fully utilizing great Canon lenses like the 70-200 2.8 IS II or III on the X-T3 and its cousins?

Metabones EF-X adapter/speedbooster are in development.

There's this one: https://www.adorama.com/kafjxcefaf.html

Don't know anything about it though.

The Q&As don't look very promising...

"Shopper: Can you control lens aperture from the camera?
JOSEPH B It is intended to do that and more, but in my case it locked up my camera....fortunately the camera came back to life after I removed this adapter. Sorry to give you the bad news. I really wanted this to work.
bob f Yes. All electronic controls including autofocus are available when using the Kipon adapter.

Trudy M So this would enable me to put my canon 70-200 f2.8 mk2 on my fuji xt2 camera? Will autofocus work?
Andrew R Possibly. Works with many Canon EF/EF-S mount lenses though lenses that have a large rear protrusion may impinge on the adapter damaging either the lens or the adapter (or both). A listing of compatible lenses has not been supplied by the manufacturer. Autofocus may not function with all lenses.

William C Is this doing auto focus on fujifilm x camera as description says?
Max D Yes, though from my testing it does not seem to work with the X-H1 IBIS yet but everything else seems to work decent enough. You'll need to shoot some test shots to calibrate the adapter before it function properly. I've noticed that the AF efficiency is very dependent on the lens used, also close focus AF is quite poor. I wouldn't use this adapter if your looking for 100% accuracy and snappy focus."

Thank goodness! Metabones adapters generally work and work well.
I am sure there are a ton of Nikon and Canon switchers that want to keep their expensive and premium glass and would love to utilize them with that Fuji color science.

I'm not in love with any of my own Canon glass other than the 70-200 2.8 IS II which is a classic, GREAT piece of glass. I've compared it side by side with many other broadcast 70-200 zooms and it either holds it's own or looks better, sometimes than lenses that cost far more than $2,000.00. It's a special lens.

If you sell some other gear, or just hit the lotto, forget the adapters and get the beautiful 50-140mm they have.

P.S. Just saw you really love the Canon.

The XT-3 is the first hybrid camera to deliver both great video and stills, with very little compromises, imo.

I have shot with all of the major manufacturers, (Nikon, Sony, Canon) and Fujifilm is just crushing it on both the still and video fronts.

Cool. I have a GH5 for video and a 5DMKIII for stills work. My optimal situation is to merge these two and own two cameras for all of the narrative and stills work. But, I handhold a lot so I really like IBIS. Not a huge fan of the GH5 for stills either. My search continues. I am glad you are very happy with both sides for your work/uses with Fuji.

Based on what they did with the X-T3, the X-H2 should be pretty exciting.

I don't think the only addition it would receive is IBIS, but even with that it's going to appeal to many more.
