Fuji X-T3 released

Fujis are known to lock up a bit (my X-T20 and X-E3 both did)...some never experience it, some do.

Per usual, it's all QC (and luck); some companies are better with it than others.

Oofa, I would not be happy camper laying out thousands of dollars for an X-T3 and lenses and then have the camera lock up.
Is this something usually only seen in early run shipping cameras or all cameras throughout their production run?
If it does lock up, what do you do? Does power cycling unlock it or only a trip back to Fujifilm repair? Does a
firmware revision usually take care of it or does it continue?

In the video he says he has to remove the battery and power up again. In the comments, someone says they believe it is related to mounting the SD cards on mac systems, as the mac filesystem will put various invisible files on it which causes it to lock up.

any source for this? I only use PC, maybe I am good for it? :P
this camera is too good to pass for a video.

We had a similar deal users ago with the Panasonic P2 cards, mounting them, unlocked, to the Mac OS was writing files to the cards which could corrupt them. Since that experience years ago, I ALWAYS lock any card I mount to my Macs out of habit. So perhaps the locking up wouldn't be a big deal if doing so mitigated it?

Only had one lockup on my XT-2. None so far on the XT-3.

Power cycling solved it in the XT-2's case.

Locking your card before mounting to a Mac should be standard, imo.

Wish I had known this. I've been giving my cards to my friend who has a mac. No lock up issues yet on the XT20

Very intrigued by Fuji's trajectory and I'm going to pick one of these up to test the waters.

Any recommendations for X glass? Most of the reviews I'm seeing are from still shooters. Open to all sizes and ranges. If this goes well and if/when the XH2 / dedicated Cine cam are released I think the MKX Cine zooms will make a lot of sense for my work, but for now just looking for bang for the buck options.

The kit 18-55mm lens is OIS and is ridiculously sharp.

But ALL of the Fuji lenses are sharp.

I have yet to see a "dog".

I have the 10-24mm OIS, 16-55mm, and 50-150mm OIS.

The Fujifilm 16mm f1.4 and 56mm F1.4 are legendary, as is the 90mm for portraits.

The Fujifilm 35mm f2 R WR is weather sealed and is so small but shrp and is a great walking around lens.

The only "kit" lenses are the XC series with the plastic mounts, the other lenses are simply included packages, not a cheaper "kit" in essence.

And at that, the XC series are really good on my XT1.

The only "dog" might the the little 24mm "lens cap" lens which someone decided should be focused at about 1 foot to 4 feet... Remove a shim or two to reset the focus for a usable lens. Think I paid $65 for my version of the 24mm, kind of a toy. Hidden gem is the little 27mm, if you can get it for $200 you should buy it. Kind of clinical but extremely sharp and you can't get more compact besides the fixed focus 24mm.

Lockups are very often related to card manufacturer, stick with Sandisk, Sony, and most Samsung and you are OK. Lexar seems to be the worst for lockups. Also Mac OS or not, format the card in the camera and do it often, will ditch any files that might be causing grief (don't think the Mac metafiles are really the problem).

Pretty sure the XT1 has exFAT, otherwise cards larger than 32GB are not officially supported. But there are reasons to "break" the file at 4GB (or 2GB). Now if they update to remove the 30 minute limit, they will get my attention. If they announce removing the 30 minute limit, and BMD RAW internal, I'll order that day as my XT1 is getting old.

Are there 3D LUTs to take the FLOG footage from the HDMI output, and push it into Fuji's various film emulation looks in grading software?
