Fuji X-T3 released

Dan, nothing in the documentation about going back a firmware version. Based on this forum discussion I doubt it's possible: https://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/7879-x-t3-focus-hunting/ But this was the last post in the discussion (dated Aug. 13), which rings a bit hopeful:

"From Fuji South Africa, I asked whether Fuji Japan had found the problem/solution and this was their reply:
"The update was that they have found the cause in the firmware which is related to phase detection AF. The solution for the issue they are developing an upgraded firmware to solve the issue"

Now we wait :)"

I was going to report back the same. I too read and heard that you cannot go backward with Firmware version. Fuji can do it for you but that requires being without your camera for at least a few weeks.

I too heard that a new firmware is in the works and that Fuji is well aware of the focus hunting issue. Saw a bunch of posts on it, YouTube videos, so it is real and not a things that I am imagining.

Yep, we wait now.

An update that puts the overall auto focus performance beyond the original performance would be awesome. I am eagerly looking forward to the 240fps firmware they announced for this summer(summers coming to an end!!)

Get ready for moire/aliasing fest because there'll be a lot of line-skipping.

It would be nice if they hurried this up and released it as an incremental release 3.1 (fix) instead of developing features which will take longer. Not that I don't want more features on my X-T3, but the autofocus fix needs to happen now...

Yeah I still have the old firmware fortunately.

Lucky you. I really regret updating mine, it really has done nothing for me shooting video except cause focusing frustration. And I waited quite a while to update to make sure that the firmware wasn't buggy. But the real problem for Fuji video shooters is almost everything you read about the camera, lenses, firmware updates and using them is from still only shooters.
It's weird, all of these still shooters with XT-3s own an incredibly powerful and superb quality digital cinema camera yet hardly any have ever shot even a home video with it. I thought when I bought mine, we would begin to see a sizeable divergence between still shooters and video shooters discussing tips and tricks but easily 95% of all XT-3 on-line discussion centers on stills.
From what I hear, the 3.0 FW has been fine for still shooters, the slight focusing twitching doesn't really affect still shooting. I am supposed to have a dialog with some Fuji USA video team members soon so I'll report back if and when that happens.

I currently am looking at the X-t3 as a B-cam for my C200. Given all the experience you have with this camera...both positive and negative...would you suggest it for video work...or not? Just curious. I really want to love it....but would really appreciate your opinion as an owner.

Thanks

If you can get one with v 2.10 on it or wait out the next fw version then yes. It's a beautiful image, strong codec and great form factor...

Beautiful camera for both stills and video with no qualifications. Amazing value for the money, and the lenses for the mount are some of my favorite of all time. It's also just plain fun and intuitive to use.

I haven't needed the AF since upgrading the firmware so can't speak to that.

Awesome, just pulled the trigger. Sorry to derail anything here. For CPU sake...would you shoot 400mb as opposed to 200? If so...what SD card9s) are you using? Thanks

You may want to check out some SOTC sample H.265 footage...like now.

It's a struggle for many. How's your system?

[Assuming you shoot RAW on your C200 you're probably fine.]

System is fairly solid. Newest maxed iMac with 128GB RAM. About 8TB of Samsungs fastest SSDs. No problem with the C200 RAW content.

Yeah I honestly wish it did H264 in 10 bit as well.

I shoot everything at 200mb. I can see no discernible difference between 200 and 400 and I think Dan concurs. The h265 is very CPU intensive -- I proxy everything Premiere. As for SD Cards I use these V30 cards (shooting @200mb) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod..._sdsdxxg_032g_gn4in_extremepro_sdhc_32gb.html For 400mb you'll need faster...

I had a shoot where I had to match the XT-3 to the C200 at a specific picture profile. We shot charts to give us some kind of a chance, but it was pretty brutal, they're not cameras that fancy looking alike.
