FS100 HD & FCP issues .... ??

I've searched around to see if anyone is having this problem, but seems to be alot of open threads with no final answer/fix.

Running

FCP 6.0.5
G5 2ghz 6.5 gigs ram
HVX200a
Firestore DVCPRO HD 250 GB

I'm down to the last 8 clips and I'm having trouble transferring them. It looks like it starts to transfer them correctly at first in the log & transfer window, but right about 1/4 or 1/2 of the way thru it just stops and nothing.....

I'm getting this red examination mark and it's saying as I scroll the mouse pointer over it "ERROR NO Data". I've tried the retry button and shutting down FCP, nothing. I looked on the FS100 HD to see if the clips was there and yes looks to be there.

Any ideas on what I can do ?

Ok so playing around with it a little more and seem to have gotten the little clips under 50 sec to transfer, but the clips over 1min, no go.

Do you think this has something to do with my computer being slow (processors) or my workflow ?

FS100 HD - firewire 400 cable - G5 (front port) - FCP - G-raid 500 GB - G-raid 1 TB - Capture scratch

It's weird because it loaded all 27 clips ranging from 45 secs to 5 mins, i can't figure this out. It's like something is cutting the signal off......

Got a spanned clip to transfer and now only two left. I've had to shut down FCP and force quit it halfway thru most of the transferring. I also had the FS100 HD lock up my entire computer and the only way to break free is to hold down the G5's power button or the FS100 HD's off button. I then got the device removal pop up, but everything seems to be ok.

Wow and to think I spent $2000.00 on this pos, I hope I'm the only one having this problem or maybe there's something that I'm not doing right.... Damn maybe the P2 cards are the way togo !

Sorry to hear you are having troubles- sadly you're not alone. I have never recommended the Firestore because I hear of non stop issues just like this all the time.

Hi Noah,
Just bought your DVD from another user, very nice job and helpful.

I'm thinking maybe we should make a sticky on the FS100 HD pros and cons... That way suckers like me that spend $2000.00 on one would know before hand if this is the right investment.

I got almost every clip to transfer, but it took me 5 hours to get them over. There's still one clip that won't transfer, but I guess I'll take that.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the Mac constantly running checks thru out the system ?
