FS-100 dubbing

Just hook it up to any camera or deck that accepts dv input, hit play all clips on the firestore and record on the destination and you are good to go. I do it all the time. (of course it has to be DV footage)

There's the rub; It's DVCPROHD at the moment and I can't get it into Avid ("the file is not a supported XDCAM.MXF") hence the hope I could down-scale it to DV. Can I put it back onto a P2 card?

I play footage from my Firestore back through the component out of the Camera, so if your system can take component HD in, then there you go. I did get it to work on a monitor.

Actually, I cannot recall if I was able to get the signal to pass through the camera in HD, but definately out s-video, so that is the poor mans conversion to DV

OK, just tested it, I can NOT seem to be able to view HD footage on the Firestore through the camera on an HD monitor. Maybe someone else knows how to do that, please let us know. I WAS able to view the HD Footage on the Firestore on a production monitor through the S-Video from the camera. So, you can always do it that way. If you want it HD you can always RECORD the HD signal coming in from the Firestore back to your P2s as long as you do it in intervals (file sizes) that the P2s can accomidate.

Avid can take the files, you're just not importing them the right way. Look for DC's sticky on how to import P2/MXF files into Avid.

Barry, is it possible to view Firestore material through the camera Component HD to a HD monitor? Whats the sectret?
I can do it S-Video, just not Component.
