Is it just me, or is 24p getting over saturated? Just about every new reality show, cooking show, gardening show, infomercial, you name it is shooting in 24p. It seems like it is loosing its magic that it once had. Although I love 24P and everything it has to offer, I am afraid that it will soon loose its "magic". Why don't these people leave 24p for what it s meant to be? The look of film. If you want to have a reality show, than make it look real, shoot with standard video. Leave the 24P for movie making!

It would seem to me that the content is way more important than the frame rate so a good cooking show is not going to downplay your great movie no matter what the frame rate. The worst case scenario is that people get used to the look of film...But then again, that should of happened years ago...I wouldn't sweat it:)

I agree with Mino about the content factor. But I do understand your "magic" point. I'm still learning how to get quality 24p. So far I've only shot projects in 60i. That's like buying a Porsche and not taking it out of 1st gear. Baby steps, I guess.

You guys are right, I just felt like bitching about something. Content is king. That's why you can have the best equipment, the best DP, the best of the best, but if the content you are producing is shitty, than you will end up with a shitty product. Look at all of the blockbuster crap out today.

how is it you know for sure these shows are being shot 24p? and not say.. 30p?

The difference in 24p versus 30p is even less noticeable when shown on a regular interlaced TV...

and if those gardening shows/other shows are part of a network conforming to HD standards, then they very well might be shooting 24p to begin with.

24p does not a film make...

it just hapeens to be a number... one that is lower that 60...
