From VHS to DVD to Vegas

I am trying to put some old VHS footage onto DVD so I can put in my computer and into Vegas. The dub from VHS to DVD worked as I can replay it on the VCR/DVD combo machine that I used to dub. I know I am doing something wrong as Vegas does not seem to recognize the file on the disc.
Any solutions would be appreciated.

You can run from your VCR to your camcorder into Vegas -- no need to put on DVD, and you shouldn't, anyway, because DVD is MPEG-2 -- if you capture the VHS through the camcorder, it'll be AVI. VHS-quality AVI, but still, no inter-frame compression to worry about.

Do you know how to run your VCR into your camcorder? After that, you firewire into your computer, then open Sony Capture, and uncheck "Enable DV Device Control" under Preferences. You can then send a feed into the capture program and start digitizing anywhere you want.
