From Premiere 2.0 into Final Cut Pro.

I've been editing some things in Final Cut at school, and some things in Premiere 2.0 at my house. My project is due on tuesday, so this is pretty urgent for me.

I finished editing some scenes in premiere and hopefully I can just stick the movies into the timeline in Final Cut Pro, is that possible though? If you must know, I exported my movies from Premiere 2.0 into Microsoft DV AVI files, can those be loaded up into Final Cut Pro? If I am not able to load it up into Final Cut Pro, then what file do I need to export the scenes into?

So can Microsoft DV AVI files be imported into Final Cut Pro's browser and into the timeline?

Final Cut should read your DV AVI but there are two things to be aware of.

One is that it isn't a Final Cut Pro DV file so it will most likely want it to be rendered when you stick it in. Also the be aware of the pixel aspect ratio when you inport it. For some reason I have noticed that when I imnport MOVs exported from final cut to premiere the PAR from the file is slightly tighter so I am left with a bit of a black edge. This is less of a concern for you as at worst the picture will just get cut off slightly.

Also remember that if osx doesn't write onto NTFS so you will have to move it onto the local computer (you shold be doing this anyway)

thank you egproductions!

one thing. "Also remember that if osx doesn't write onto NTFS so you will have to move it onto the local computer (you shold be doing this anyway)"

sorry, but i don't understand what you mean by this.

OSX uses a different filesystem than windows xp. Windows Xp is usually NTFS and OSX is HFS+. If you have an external drive formated to NTFS you will be able to read you files when you plug it into the OSX system but you wont be able to write to that drive. If your file is smaller than 2 GB than you can format your external drive to fat32 which OSX can read and write to. This way you can edit str8 to your drive. You can also seperate your file to a few 2GB clips if editing off the drive is crucial.

thank you, again. i think i'm understanding what you need. i'm just taking a flashdrive and transferring my DV AVI files into the macpro i have in school. so i hope everything turns out okay.
