From hell's heart I stab at thee...

I hope his coffin is lined with rich Corinthian leather...

That is in such poor taste...

(Actually, I'm just mad that you beat me to it...)

His Trek appearances were classic, of course, but he was also great in the first "Naked Gun" movie and (of all things) Cannonball Run II (which I'd forgotten until I just went to IMDB :) ). I also found from IMDB that he dubbed a voice in the German TV version of "Hamlet" that Mystery Science Theater 3000 featured once.

I also remember seeing him in a WW2 movie (from searching IMBD, I think it was ), where it was almost impossible to recognize him. I think the voice finally gave it away, though...

Wrath of Khan is epic.

Let's not forget Fantasy Island! I'm old enough to remember watching that show as a kid, and finding it hilarious that he was playing a bad guy in a Star Trek movie. Then I actually saw the movie and was blown away by his chest-rippling, Shakespeare quoting awesomeness.

Like "Play it again, Sam," this is one of the classic misquoted lines in pop culture. He really says "soft, Corinthian leather." Not that I care that much -- you assume he says "rich" because, by gum, that's what the man stood for. And was worthy enough to stir me from my blogging malaise: www.adhole.com.

What was the final verdict on his pecs? Some said it was a prosthetic, was that the real RM?

I remember sitting in a Doctors office, bored, and picked up a People Magazine. There was an article about Montalban when he was around his late 60's, early 70's maybe, and it discussed the fact that he was in great shape for his age, and how hard he worked out to stay in shape. That was him in excellent shape in Wrath of Kahn.

I wish he would have lost the hairpiece though....

He was a very charismatic man. How often can you put a guy in a white leisure suit next to a midget and he still gives you the impression that his balls are made of titanium? I remember the episode of FI when Roddy Mc Dowall played the Devil and they went at it. Good stuff.

RIP

my favorite quote of his...

Ricardo: (Onstage, at the Ricardo Montalban Theater) Most of you know the five stages of the actor. But in my case there are seven stages. The first stage is 'Who is Ricardo Montalban?' The second stage is 'Get me Ricardo Montalban.' Third stage is 'Get me a Ricardo Montalban type.' The fourth stage is 'Get me a young Ricardo Montalban.' Fifth stage is 'Who is Ricardo Montalban?' Sixth stage in my case because of the 'Spy Kids' movies is 'Wait a minute — isn't that Whats-his-name?' Seventh stage — because of this theatre, people passing by a few years from now — is 'Who the hell is that?'
