From C.F. to external Hard Drive (No PC)

Is there any way to get your footage from a C.F. card directly into a hard drive without a Laptop?
I will be travelling and don't want take a laptop with me. I will have enough cards for a whole days of shooting, but I don't want to bring a laptop with me at all.
Main reason, I use my desktop computer and Id have to borrow a laptop from family.

I have a USB 3.0 card reader.
My External HDD has USB 3.0 connector but its an odd shape connector on the device and it also has SATA and FW800 connectors.
Any way to do this?

*I've looked and looked everywhere and found nothing on the internet. Only some portable HDD drives, but everyone's discontinued
Would a tablet with a USB port work? If I get a usb splitter, can I plug in my HDD and my card reader and do it that way?

There may be some Android phones/tablets that have this functionality (USB OTG) but my guess is they'd be slow. You might also look at NetBooks.

A NEXTO DI is the most professional small form factor downloader with built-in drive, & it can dupe to additional drives, but they're more expensive then many laptops.

My favorite solution is to just bring enough cards to cover the gig, & download upon return, but often need to ship drives home, so bring a NEXTO &/or MacBook Air.
