Friday Night Lights

The story line of this movie I thought was pretty good. The movie kind of reminded me of "Remember The Titans" though. One thing that stood out was a lot of the shots were shot hand held! I know that the stuff on the football field may have been which is fine because football is a faced paced game, but a lot of the dialogue scenes were shot hand held all throughout the movie.

Re: Friday Night Lights

i just saw this tonight and thought it was cinemactically very satisfying- though I have to point out that all football films as intense tend to go to the route of fast cutting and ultra close-ups, which i love btw, - and makes it very easy to follow-especially because this one is done very well. not for one minute was I bored- and i don't even really like football! :) in fact, I don't like sports.
but it is still a movie and i congratulate it for staying amovie and not a football biased technical mumbo jumbo...
it also felt very much like a documentary. I really wonder how they script those segements where its' very busy.

some other movies that come to mind shot in this manner:

Re: Friday Night Lights

I saw this tonight, and I think it was WAY better than Remember the Titans. Not as hollywood. The hand held and cutting almost felt like a 1988 Odessa Permium Doc. I took my 11 yr old son and 3 of his friends to see it. After the movie they wanting to go tackle somebody. I do think that there will be a lot of different opinions about this film. Texas highschool football is taken very serious. The stadiums are bigger than some college stadiums and they are full of excited cheering football crazy fans each and every friday night. The rest of the country probably is more passionate about other sports, ie midwest and basketball. So peraps they will not see the beauty that is Texas high school football, captured in the film.

Billy Bob was top notch, and so were the young actors. I also thought that Tim McGraw was convincing.
