Fresno Filmmakers Event

Yes there are filmmakers in fresno. A lot are indy, and there are a lot of students destined for LA. However, the film commission has started a push towards growing the industry here through free permits and offering free locations if you hire locally. I am a part of that team, and we are expecting a great turnout. We are currently booking speakers and offering booth space, somewhat like a tradeshow, possibly a demo area to show off your product, and more. Rather than shooting for the stars and trying to get Panasonic, or Sony, or any of the big names to buy a booth, we are looking for the smaller companies. We would gladly accept a bigger name, but since our event smaller, I don't expect them to buy a booth. HAVING SAID THAT it is an excellent opportunity to reach the people who are asking about your product here on the site. Many of the best film-makers of Fresno, will be there, from commercial production, to indy. If you would like to be a part of our event, please message me and I'll forward your info on to the people who will make it happen! I will be announcing who are speakers are soon as well. So far we are hoping to have a final cut pro trainer, a speaker from SAG indy, and some big names talking business. If you have connections to a great speaker that would be willing to do an event like this, please message me for that as well. I hope to hear from you all!!!

Shane, Fresno doesn't get much recognition, but I've had several of my guys go on to the "big cities". :)
Yes there is talent in Fresno California.

Unfortunately every time you guys have had something, I've been booked. I guess that's not really a bad thing. :)
Keep hounding me and I'll eventually make it. I promise.
Thanks for all your efforts.
Good to see you hanging around here.

I come over to Fresno from the UK frequently & would be very interested in coming to see what is on offer in terms of experience & gear in the area.

It'd be good to catch up with professionals from the other side of the world :)

Martin.

Martin, any time you're in Fresno feel free to stop by. Be careful, I might put you to work though. :)
That goes for all of you out there.

wow, when I saw fresno on the news bulletin, I thought how weird, then I saw it was you Shane, pm me the info!

Hi there everyone. Imagine my shock when I was skimming the main page and saw the word "Fresno" on the right hand column. I was shocked because I live like a half hour away in Coarsegold. Let me know the details and I will see if I can make it out, good to see more focus put on the beautiful central valley.

Ya know, it's amazing how many of us are lurking in the Central Valley and have never shared a beer. :)
We definately gotta change that.

Jon are you old enough to drink??? :) I'll definitely keep you all updated as we progress. It looks like some of those potential names so far are:

Shane King (What a great first name) Hart Bochner, and Darrien Gipson from SAG Indy!

OK Here is a little update. We will be having a filmmakers gathering in the Fresno area. I just got the update. It will be at Full Circle Brewery, Thursday, May 22nd, 7pm 620 F Street, Fresno. If you have any questions, please contact Christine, also reachable at

At a brewery, what a great idea!
I'll be there. Look for the old guy with a kids attitude! :)

I probably won't be able to make it out. We are planning on shooting our TimeFest film on Friday and Saturday so Thursday might be a bit busy for me. Maybe next time!

 Have one on me!

I wish I could go, I live in Visalia, 30 mins south of Fresno. I'm not much of a drinker, but toss one back for me. Let us know how it goes.

Actually I'll be shooting in a cemetary, so I wont be there unfortunately. HOWEVER, I'll get updates and let you all know when the next one is!
