Fresnel LEDs

I'm looking for some Fresnel LEDs on a shoestring.

I know that they are a relatively recent technology but are there any options available? I'm looking at 1/3 of a SOLA's unit price, preferably with an output of around 20000 lux @ 2 meters on spot to match my old Arri fresnel 650 heads.

I'm keen to explore this product category as well, especially interested in ones with flicker-free DMX dimming and high CRI ratings.

You will be disappointed at the lower cost fresnels. I'm working with some now, and they flicker when they are dimmed. There is no getting around this flicker in the lower cost units, the circuitry simply isn't right for video. The Litepanels Sola and Inca, the DeSisti LED fresnels, the Arri L series, and the Prism RevEAL fresnels all have higher PWM frequencies so that they don't flicker on camera when they are dimmed.

They're not cheap, but the MoleLED fresnels seem the most reasonably priced option on a lumens:cost ratio. And by all accounts I've read so far they're meant to perform beautifully in terms of colour rendering and light quality.

I'm quite tempted by getting a couple of their 400w units.

I have not been able to get straight information on their retrofit LED kits, which I have seen priced the same as a new LED.

I have a few 412 Juniors I would convert if it was economical.

Thank you all for your input.

I've looked to MoleLEDs, compared their photometric charts with Sola units and MoleLEDs really seem as effective and much cheaper. I have to find if there are any official dealer here though. Anyway... It seems that any LED fresnels are way less effective than their Tungsten counterparts whereas physics says the contrary! Most part of tungsten radiation is converted to heat while LEDs are light efficient so why does LED fresnels have such a little lux output compared to tungsten units? My Arri 650 fresnels has more than twice the output of a Sola 6 which is a 104W lamp!

Anyone using some of mentioned units can share some thoughts on how both tungsten/LED fresnels outputs compare in real life? With that kind of output any the real difference from Mole/Litepanels to Chinese cheap units are on CRI (on paper), build quality and hopefully on the light quality they output...
