hey guys im really into special effects (but im only 14, so cut me a little slack, but not to much though! :) ) anyway, I was just watching the last episode of on the lot, and in Zach's movie they froze time but two charecters were still moving. I didn't think that they masked it, because they only had 24 hours to do it and it looked seemless. any methods that anyone has to create effects like this? a similar one was used in that movie "clock stoppers," but anyway. I have AE 6.5, premiere 1.5 pro, effects lab pro, and composite lab pro...so please help me out, thanks so much!

if you watched how they shot the short film... they had to of done a lot of masking... plus making a 2minute film *i think thats right) in 24 hours isn't too difficult. probably took them a few hours to shoot the whole thing... then the rest of the time was compositing and rendering.

shoot a clean plate then shoot the action. and by that, i mean lock off the tripod and shoot the scene with no one in it... then shoot it with people doing their action so your masking works out right. i think thats how it would be done

ok see thats what I figured...and I completly forgot it was only 2 minutes!! ok thanks, I have done alot of masking in the past, thanks alot!

There's already a thread about this in the Cafe. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=98392

Keep reading DVXuser and you'll quickly gain a ton of knowledge. Just remember to use the search function and always google a question before you start a new thread asking.

Do you go to Southlake Carol high school/middle school? I hear all the town cares about is football.

lol thats funny, I don't, I actually go to a near by school, that is in the IB program. But we have the best football team in Southlake, but believe me everyone here values their education over that...but yes it is a BIG thing here.

Sorry TheComo, don't have a link to the video you're talking about. But as for the original posting by mts4243369, about how to do the freeze thingy, I just noticed Andrew Kramer has a new tutorial on his website that shows how to do exactly that in After Effects. Here's a link:http://www.videocopilot.net/videotutorials/timefreeze/index.htm. Enjoy! Hope it helps. I found it amazingly simple and educational. Andrew is amazing!

If you want to the see the video that started this whole thread you can go to www.onthelot.com its the official website of the show, you can watch the full episode for free, you'll just have to download a plugin for you comp to watch it. The short their talking about is in the second episode....I think its titled "Audition 2"?
