Freeze Frame with background separation

If anyone could help me with this effect or direct me to a tutorial I would appreciate it.

What I am trying to do is:

Person walking down street(medium closeup), freeze frame of person and separating the background to a different colour(solid), but leaving the colors and image of person unchanged in freeze frame.

This is a common effect seen & used for intros but I can't seem to find any tutorials on this.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I've never done this before but I know what you are talking about. I'm not sure if there is a excat tutorial on it.

What I would do is...

Make a dupiclate of your footage

At the point in tim where you want to stop turn that layer to a freeze frame at that point in time. Set a marker on that frame so you remeber the excat frame. then either cut out your person in ae and do all the effects there or save that fame as a picture and do the effects in Photoshop.

After you get the effects done for that frame simply split the layer and postion your new layer for as long as you want.

That was a brief description but should get you started depending how familar you are with AE.
