Freelance Lighting Kit

I've been working on a lot of union TV show/features and we have been using the Skypanels a lot; 60s and 360s along with HMIs
But those are EXTREMELY expensive. Kini Flos dont seem to be as popular anymore, at least not the tube ones.

Never really bought my own stuff, but as I start doing more freelance work, I would want my own lighting kit.
At the moment I have a Falcon Eyes 18D.
It's a good LED light, but Im looking for lights that are also variable in temp. and/or possibly rgb too.

The Aperture 300D seems like a really nice and popular choice, but wondering if theres anything else worth considering.
Thinking of getting maybe 2 or 3 lghts.
And then a few random small fixtures, possibly tubes

These would be great for local shoots. But what if I am travelling around and say, shooting a doc style video?

No answer on travel stuff but my colleagues locally love the bicolor astras and the quasar kinos (kino shells with quasar tubes). Some of this depends on what “level” of freelancer you are. For instance on those rare occasions I use my own gear, I am on the lower end and I statisically dont have clients that would pay legitimate fees for the lights I mentioned above so I went with lower quality stuff like old LPs and Dracast. Those fit my situation.

Gemini is cheaper than the arri but not cheap. In 1x1 look lupo super panel (1600$) , luxli timpani (1000$) and various Chinese panels. 2019 should bring more options and better prices.

LED's have been getting better every generation and we're to the point that even a lot of the lower end stuff is getting decent and most of the mid-level is pretty good, compared to just a few years ago. Most of my LED's are Litepanels, but Dracast is pretty popular around here with a bunch of guys. Litemats, too, but they're not cheap. I picked up a couple Dracast round soft panels when B&H was almost giving them away last year(maybe $100/each) and I also grabbed some Intellytech LC-160 2x2's earlier this year. Both are bi-color and they both look good on-camera, which is the important thing.

And on camera to my eye, Gemini's look better than the Skypanels, too.
