There's been a much more active political-post climate here recently, and yeah, I gotta say it's starting to add a tone of ugliness to the board. Contention isn't doing anybody any good. So if we can veer the whole board back to discussions about the camera, the accessories, even filmmaking in general, and get off the nazi/anarchist/war casualty track, maybe we can keep DVXuser.com's rep as a happy place intact.

Slap.. you gotta take it easy with your Political posts.. its gonna keep rubbing someone the wrong way.[/quote]

Come on, its a joke!

Seriously, that was about as unpolitical a post as there comes.  Unless someone is really seriously worried that Canada will fall to the minions of the USA, I have to believe that this was an example comedy rather than seriousness.

If you look at the Michael Moore film discussion and the US discussion, they all cleaned up once the combative posters moved on.  And there is still plenty of disagreement, just adult disagreement.  The main issue was not politics, which is neither here nor there, and is part and parcel with discussions of things like documentary film making, but a break down in adult conversation.  When one guy starts a thread and says, :happy fourth", and someone else turns it into a "**** you I hate X" thread, then it is not the fault of the guy who said "Happy Fourth."

Just FYI: Except for discussing the documentary possibilities of a single film, I have never done anything but reply to the political comments of others, and even then I did not take a political position but a position based on how one discusses things on the Internet.
