john, your crane looks like a hassle to setup. Im still looking for a nice crane where i can setup in less than 5mins. Ur demo has several cuts making it seem like a quicker setup. It's a nice looking crane though.
 
hi Blue,

it really looks more complex than it is, I've set it up before in under 6 minutes at 10ft reach with camera mounted and shooting. I actually timed it without rushing madly.
Regular unpack and setup time is around 10 to 15 min with experience and organized parts.

if you compare it to a simple paralellogram jib that offers no camera pan and tilt control then yes there are more steps to the Advanta-Jib Lite setup.

But if you compare it to setting up a jib with a motorized pan tilt head with the wiring,batteries,assembly,rigging and camera balancing plus the jib setup then the A-J Lite setup is much quicker.

I shoot quite a bit in the feild so when I designed this thing I made sure the tool-less setup was as quick as I could get it. Including things like incorperating the LANC and video cables into the jib so that I didn't need to velcro the cables on every time

I did a shoot las week with a porta-jib and a motor on a dolly... took 3 people at least a 1/2 hour to set it up, balance it and secure all the cables together. I never heard about the Dykortech jib before, but it looks like a pretty good idea. Is there any places it can be rented in L.A?

btw I just picked up a Segway this week, how feakin' cool are these things ?!! ;)
