Free Explosion Footage

That's a great link. Thanks! The free stuff looks cool and the discs you can buy are only $8.99 each. That's incredible!

Thanks for the reminder about the http://www.detonationfilms.com/free_stuff.htm source. I had bookmarked this page several months ago, while working on a post VFX project for an independent filmmaker, but I evidently either deleted, moved or misplaced the link. Thanks very much.

I have downloaded a few of these free explosion clips and, if for nothing else (should you want to create your own FX "from scratch"), they are excellent source material for carefully observing the characteristics of such pyrotechnics--hues, saturation, contrast, textures (sprites), etc. I had been working on three mini-projects: 1) object removal for one lengthy shot (9 sec.?); 2) a 9mm muzzle flash (about 1 sec.); and 3) a grenade explosion, plus trailing smoke and fire. (I used After Effects for the object removal--bearing in the muzzle of the weapon--and VisionLab Studio for the muzzle-flash and particle shots.)

God bless.
