Free Distribution - Limit by Territory

I'm trying to get my film out there for free to other countries where it's not distributed on DVD. It would be great to simply embed a video player I control into my films website, and somehow limit who can view it by what territory they're in. I know there's a way to do this programming wise, and have seen it on bigger sites, but does anyone know of any opportunities for the "little guy" to do it?

Most of the simple ways to limit viewership are passwords, which can easily be shared and a few other things. Either way, it's a difficult thing to do without special programming.

Thoughts?

Your site can look at the IP address of the visitor and using a lookup service determine the country of origin. From that you can enable the video or display an Unsupported Region message.

Hi, I'm a new user.
There is one video player that definitely allows you to do what you're looking for: http://dynamoplayer.com/
Once you've uploaded your video on their player, it allows you to do Geoblocking - that's the name for it (i.e. you select which countries you give access to the video or not). You can read about it on their FAQs on their page. However, I think I saw that there's a minimum price you have to set to allow people to view your film (unless you post the entire film under the free preview section - don't know if that's possible)

I have only just discovered that player, and today used it for the first time to upload a documentary. It seems to work ok at the moment, and you can embed it anywherre - here is the player on my website: http://www.minorhourfilms.com/look-up-and-wave-your-glove-view/

Hopefully this is helpful.
