free audio effects

I am a relative noobie and looking to download some audio effects for a project....... preferably free. I need some party crowd audio specifically at this time. Does anyone know of a good site to get such? I am not having much luck with a Google search.

Well of course the best is recording it your own.

There are soundlibrary's with free sounds (www.freesound.org )

But... for example if you need the sound of hearing a dog barking in the basement at the neighbours house.... That doesn't exist... So for more "special" things and situations it's better to record your own. Or to find someone who can record it for you.
 
Thanks, I appreciate the reference and the idea.......... just not always practical to record it yourself, but I think a good plan to have a recorder at the ready to catch some things.

If it are sounds like "city environment, birds, dogs, many people talking in a street... " it's not that difficult to find on the internet.

But watch out !!! Always listen the FULL soundtrack that you downloaded.

And take care of quality... 48kHZ 16bit is the minimum.. although for ambience sounds.. 44.1 kHz might also do if you don't find anything else.
