Frames dropping like mad, even in preview

same crap is happening to me too! and nothing helps, bitrate, framerate... i'm going insane trying to solve it!!! and sony hasnt responded to my e-mail in like 3 months.

If you are getting a framerate drop in capture, there are several solutions that could work.
1. Look at your harddrive speed, you should have at least a 7000RPM drive.
2. Restart your computer and don't boot anything other than Vegas for capture. This will clear your cache and allow for the best possible capture.
3. Turn preview window off. This runs several other processes on your computer that cause dropped frames.

Now, if you are getting dropped frames on the tape that has nothing to do with Vegas. You should clean the heads and only stick with dry lube tapes.

Hope these suggestions help somewhat.

You could also try optimising your hard drive and make sure your capture deck is being powered by mains and not battery.

Or... if you are using a lot of effects that could cause drop out in preview... not render though...

You need to get more specific about where this is happening and whats up with it.
