frame rate converter not working

Okay, I know it's probably a common question, but I've done the whole search thing with no success to the point where I'm frustrated and stumped. I'm on a non-Intel Mac using FCP6, and I'm trying to convert HVX 720p60 footage to 24 using the frame rate converter. I installed it correctly, I think, and it shows up as a selectable option in the menu, but when I select it, nothing happens. No response, nada. I've tried trashing FCP prefs using FCP Rescue, etc. What more do I need to do to get this to work???

I haven't used it since FCP5 but I remember you had to select it in your browser I think and then choose the converter or maybe it was in the timeline...
