Frame lines

On my laptop I see these very usefull vertical lines showing the frames. Now on my desktop I set everything the same...

Options > Grid Spacing > Frames
Options > Ruler Format > Time and Frames

...but the lines didn't appear.

I just clicked on Snap to Grid under Options... and lines are there, but they don't seem to be the same deal as in my laptop. As I zoom out the the lines dissapear in my Laptop. Than makes sence since you should only be able to see the frames when you are close enough... These however are allways there, even when I zoom out. It made no sence so I took them off.

...I miss my frame lines. help

ok... after sleeping for a month or two here is the screen shot from my Laptop still running 6.0 (with lines :) ):

If you use Options>Grid Spacing>Frames and then set your Ruler Format to your project (29.97 or 23.976), it should work, though the lines will be faint.

It still didn't work. Am I doing this part right?

I see the very faint lines on the track, but not on the whole vertical length of the timeline.

Yea, it will work... I just really like the long lines that span across all tracks, especially for the audio tracks... I don't understand what it is? Could my 6.0 have a lucky glitch? Was it in a plug-in I added?

Weird!!! I have a brand new XP 32-bit install and I just sat down to edit again...

and what do ya think... KABLAM! The frame lines are back in town!
these look like the same ones on my 6.0 on my laptop... a fine dotted line spanning across the whole vertical lenght of the timeline... nice and visible and not at all obtrusive...

edited: the interesting thing is that this time they show the whole time, but they don't snap to the frames till I move in much closer than in my laptop...

this is bugging me so bad! hehehe... why can't we figure out how to get these suckers dialed in the way each of us like 'em?!? he he he... I just hoe they don't go away "magically"...
