FR-2LE owners...

The most I have ever used was an 8GB card. I can get away with 12 hours on a 4GB card and I'm recording at 48/24. I use a different card each day so I don't really need that much space for what I do. The Fostex FR-2LE is a great machine.

Thanks for the info guys (and gals.) B&H is selling the fr-2le right now with a free 4gb compact flash card with it. Bought another 4gb card from amazon since i'll probably dump my data after each day. Looking forward to using it next week on a shoot. This will probably be the last recorder I buy until i can get a 744t.

yeah i love that recorder. it does seem a bit bulky for what it is tho. seems like it could be cut down drastically in size, especially thickness.

but i run with 1gb, 4gb, 8gb and 16gb cards in my bag

One thing I've noticed with my FR2-LE is that if your BWFF folder has more than about around 100 soundfiles, the recorder gets unstable.
I don't know for sure if it works like this on all CF-recorders, but I would recommend using multiple cards if you're doing many takes. Be careful so that you don't find this problem during a take.

Have another question. When I used my friends FR-2, I used the "Take" system. When I accessed the "Take" system on the FR-2LE, it only gave me 20 banks when the shoot I was working had well over 40 shots. What file management system do you use in your FR-2LE? Take? Reel? Or Date? Thanks again guys (and gal).

What you could do is to rename the banks, if you like. Otherwise a good advice would be to keep track of the files on paper, logging which take goes to each file. For example, you could write down Scene01_001 is perhaps Day 1, scene 5, angle 1, take 1.
That's all I can think of at the moment...
