Foxconn Buys Stake In Camera Maker GoPro, Turning Founder Into A Billionaire

Thanks for sharing, and yeah, another company with the potential to turn out a camera for to make heads 'splode. Let's see it!

Is the high-end GoPro model enough quality to make it useable as a "slo-mo" camera to use in conjunction with cameras that don't do 60p?

I wish they would make cameras with more of a pincushion distortion in lenses than barrel distortion, hate fisheye distortion.

hero 3 balck matches well with DSLR footage but not up to Canon C100. Still for slomo and action cutaways it will work. more gradable than you would think.

Does anybody know how to get HDMI output from GoPro Hero3 into a conventional SDI format? My SmallHD DP6 tells me that no matter what recording format I set, the HDMI output is 1080p60, and my Blackmagic mini-converter (unhelpfully) changes that to 480i. I'd really love to be able to use either 1080p30, 720p60, or in a pinch, 1080i60. Thanks!

He sells his soul to one of the least ethical organizations in the world for a measely $200 million? Wow.

Oh Foxconn, the company that has suicide nets installed around it's factories because multiple people try to kill themselves every week. I am guessing that is where the GoPro's are made, or certainly will be made now.

Actually, there are a lot of misnomers about that. The percentage of workers who commit suicide at the plants is roughly on par with the national average. It's just that jumping out of a building on premises of your place of employment is really spectacular.

Besides, the last time our privileged selves tried to interfere, we pissed off a lot of workers because Foxconn stopped handing out so much overtime.
