just saw previews for this series that is starting in May. I am wondering how legit this is going to me. Spielberg is producing so that has to be a good sign.

I was a big fan of project greenlight, so I hope that this is about serious filmmaking and not stupid real world crap where its more about the dating, drinking, and fights.
 
I guess we'll just have to see. I was a submitee, but was never chosen. I'm eager to see the ones that made it!
 
from the amount of silly promos featuring "high tech digital" filmy things (like the guy with muzzles flashed coming out of his fingers) I have a serious feeling this isnt going to be serious. maybe the film equivalent of top chef.
 
well I can tell you now. I was 73 out of 12782 submitted films I had to be in the top 50 to go to la for the last round, (psychological and medical exams and meeting producers again) before they picked the people they want for the show. I know of the guy who made it to the next round..... All his stuff is shot on 35mm he gets for free from a school he use to attend so all his stuff freely done. His stuff is good but from what I get from it was they want diversity but most people tend to be do comedy... As for effect heavy dunno i guess they are going for story telling thats how i got that far the producers said I should feel lucky i got this far and said spielburg saw it and chose it... (which was awesome in its self) then had to make another film to their guidlines... but thats as far as I got. but what they said was spielburg was watching them becuase he wants his name on the project to mean something so i think thats could if he is watching them and really trying to find talent.

They said im on the list for next year if the show survives season one. so I'll be watching cause i want to see who beat me lol. but i hope they didnt go for the ones who had the resources becuase alot of the ones who made it to the last round shot on film or had higher budgets....

as for the drama they asked if i could be brutally honest to people on the show and i had to sign abunch of stuff about producers and writers of the show may show my state and personality to any extreme the desire to help produce intresting storylines and foils in the show it self..... so yes it a reality show but it will still have what we love... filmmaking... just got to get threw the fights and drink etc stuff.
 
That looks great man... excellent work. I am curious how you guys are approaching dialog... meaning boom and/or wireless?

The cam work, acting, lighting... all fantastic. You should be proud of your rank... watching that makes me feel WAY better about some of the crap I've seen on the Lot site... if you watch very many of those flicks you start to feel like there wasn't any competition... I'm glad to see there was.
 
we did both in some instances such as the jib shots we used both but rest of the time boom mic'd it.
 
Congrats spidey on making in that far in the competition. I like the trailer also. It would be interesting if someone from here made it into the top 50 and got on the show.
