Foveon Type Sensor with Video Option?

Sounds awesome. But being just a patent, it will be years before it yields anything.

The C100/300/500 series from Canon are the closest thing you will get to a Foveon like image for video, at least until others jump on the bandwagon. They don't use a layered sensor, but instead combine blocks of RGBG sub-pixels to form a single pixel, at least to achieve 1080p and lower from a larger resolution sensor.

So instead of interpolating colour for each pixel, each pixel has full colour information.

I always wondered what video from a Sigma sensor would look like but they don't have video on their cameras.
Could Sony be the first?

The video looks pretty bad-or at least it used to few years ago.
I have a 720p DVD I got from them as a sample.
I showed it to a DP friend of mine and he was disappointed.
That was around 2009-2010
This hi tech is moving fast these days so maybe they've improved....

I have a Sigma SD1M and love that FOVEON sensor. It would be interesting if they developed it further for motion picture.
