Greetings all,
After reading all the posts for what shotgun is best, I decided on the AKG CK69. Working on a low budget horror movie right now and generally have only a few minutes to decided what mic to use. The CK69's ability to swap between Long/Short gun is Exteremly useful. Not having to pull out a different mic is great. We have used it outside over a jeep with a homemade windjammer and it sounds pretty good. Run to the next shot inside in a high ceiling all wood floor and just pop off the extender and you are in buisness. The low cut filter works really well with reducing wind issues. We spent over 8 hours in a barn last night and were constantly switching between long shots / close ups, we spent 2 hours setting up for a SteadyCam 360 shot, I setup in the the rafters, sounded great, then someone decided to add another light, BAM game over boom shadow all over the place, had to rely on close up's covering sound... Oh yea one more thing. The movie is being shot dual language English / Spanish so it's two movies in one, shot one scene, do it again in the different language. AD not giving room tone. WEW!!. Crew call in 2hrs..
More to come
PS: Beware of trying to use a Lav when there is corrugated aluminum between you (Outside) and the actor (Inside). It caused the wireless signal to cut in and out, had to go hide with a Portable Marantz under the "Sacraficial Table"....
