Anyone think it will be a good external monitor for an HVX200?

The native resolution is 800x480, which is ok to focus. The specs and design are quite similar to the liliput monitors that are nice at that price.

That appears to be EXACTLY THE SAME MONITOR sold by LCD4video for $500!

As Mr. Werden has observed, the native resolution of the screen is 800x480 and it downscales HD video as high as 1920x1080. But it is a nice little monitor. While I was in Vegas, I used one of them as a second screen on my laptop. I haven't tried it on my EX1 camera yet (I normally use my new Marshall and I wouldn't expect this one to hold up to the Marshall!)

I bought two of them at NAB for $250 each and though I was getting a great deal. But not if I can buy them for $150! I've never dealt with direct Chinese exporters (like Newway Retail) before, so I don't know how easy it is? Minimum orders? Shipping costs? Import fees, duty, etc? Delivery times? Anybody have any experience with these guys?

Ya, I dont know. I found it by accident, and I see they sell them on alibaba which I have used before for my company. I think it is cheap enough to say "ill give it a shot" If nothing else its a back up unit.

I'm skeptical only because of the price. It will probably do a decent job of framing your shot and help a bit with focusing but I doubt the color reproduction is great...

Don't judge by the price. There are 22" monitors around that retail for less than that. The panel on an 8" costs less than 40 usd. It's just that most people in the video market want to operate on a 300% margin. That includes lighting, monitors, anything involving mounting, etc.

These implementations are usually basic and the panels are not designed for top quality color. You will get overly saturated colors, so it's more useful for framing and monitoring white balance. Don't be surprised if it lacks some standard features.
