I want to buy new fluo lights and would like to know which one is the best overall bet:
Foto flo 400 or diva light 400. Since I can get either for about the same price, any field-tested advice? I do mostly video, and so far I only used Fresnel type stuff.
Besides your budget, these choices can be made if know your shooting style, how much room you have to carry all of your gear, how well you (honestly) treat your gear, how big an area you need or might need to shoot in.
The Foto flo offers the option of using just one bulb, and it's harness, to be placed in tighter spaces. The Diva's ballast is attached, but the unit is heavier. The Foto Flo requires a head cable, and like anything else, can add to trip hazards, breaking, or being strained and having the connectors at the cables ends, break or wear out with use. If the Diva's ballast has an issue, the whole light is out of commission, if the Foto Flo's ballast goes out, you can rent another, while yours is being repaired/replaced and still use the light. Just something to think about.
