I just got some M-Audio Microtrack's in. They are $399. You might want to check one of those out for a secondary recorder. I haven't played with it yet, as a co-worker has it in his hands right now.

Nevermind. I just played with it. There are a lot of problems with it right now...really basic things that I'm surprised about.

I've always had issues with M-Audio gear that I've bought. I don't want to slam them because it may just be that I got bad units, but it does seem like they have questionable track record with certain product lines.

Dave has inspired me to step away from the PD-6 on my next project and go with the 744, so I'll report back how I like it. I know I'll like the sound quality much better, just a matter of how it feels using it in the field. I'm sure I won't be disappointed in that regard either.

Steve, hope you can get your hands on the 722. Will look forward to hearing about your experience with it.

if you intend to work with dv/hdv cameras and like to sync fast in editing go with tc recorder only
the fr-2 would be much better option
you can also check the new tascam 2 channel recorder which is going to stamp tc from ext tc sours

you will need to add ext tc generator /horrita/dyneckey /ambient to supply external one if your camera doesnt have tc out
you will not have to sync every shot in the field only ones in a few hours

Dave every dv camera record tc - not every dv

camera record freerun tc

did he inspire you with all the rf problems working in the close range between the 744 and receivers in the same bag ?

Nice username.

Exile, can you clarify your statement about the 744? Are you saying that it's difficult to have your receivers in the same vicinity as the recorder due to RF interference from the recorder? Which receivers specifically? Is this something that you have experienced first hand and if so was it repeatable in various locations?

Steve

Yes.
Indeed, it shorting the receivers range
g-2, lectro200/400/zaxcom
First hand , i oun that stuff -
That's have nothing with locations but with rf polution from the recorder , but since there are more educatable resellers here ill get them to inspire you with the answers, and the cure :-)
