Fortcoming Panasonic AG-HVX200 and Premiere Pro

I'm interested in the Panasonic AG-HVX200 as a replacement for my PD-150.

HD production is still six months to a year away for my company but initially even the true 16:9 SD capabilities are exciting.

With that in mind can Premiere Pro (1.5.1) currently handle footage from the Panasonic shot as DVCPRO50?

If not is this likely to be added?

I realise the Panasonic will shoot DV but i'm keen to see the difference.

Many thanks and apologies from a newbie if this has been answered elesewhere.

if you install the free Matrox codec you can edit DVCPRO 50 within PPRO. you can also uset the free avid DV100 codec for editing DVCPRO HD . but we have heard and have yet to confirm that PPRO will in fact be offering naitive supprt for the HVX.

yes, it can be output over firewire. the up coming HVX200 can output ANY of the formats it shoots over firewire, and DVCPRO HD/50/25 and DV are all standard over firewire. the question is whether PPRO has the ability to output the formats over 1394.. answer: i dont think so at this time.. but if it does in fact get native support.. it certainly will.
