Formatting Mac: How do I keep all of my FCPX events/projects?

Hey All,
I'm currently still running my 08 27in iMac, and it's getting bogged down. I'm going to wipe the system, install additional ram, and only load it with the applications I need in an effort to get it running a bit more smoothly.

What I'd like to know is how I can ensure that all my FCPX projects and events will be loaded back in. I know there are several key folders that need to be backed up, but I am unsure of which ones. Naturally, all of the actual video files are on an external drive already.

Thanks,
Devon

^ Exactly. You only need 2 folders: "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Projects" along with, of course, your original media if you didn't copy them into Final Cut Events.

No need to wipe the system clean and reinstall the OS. Simple maintenance will do that. Move the Final Cut Events and Projects folder to an external drive where they should be to start with. Don't keep them on the OS drive as that will bog it down. Make sure all attached drives, especially the OS drive, have at least 15% of total capacity as free space at all times. Run Disk Warrior once a month. Not much else will effect your system. Pretty simple, really.
