Formatting - Brief Flashes, not full-out flashbacks...

I am trying to determine the proper format in a spec script for illustrating brief flashes in a character's mind. Note, that these are not full out flashback scenes.

Comparison points in well-known scripts might be John Rambo's quick torture flashbacks in First Blood.

I am presently using:

***

INT. LOCATION - TIME

Actions and dialogue...

FLASH: Description of the flash scene with no slug, etc.

Continue with the original scene...

***

Please let me know if anyone suggests a better method. Thanks!

Personally, I would probably do something like that. As a writer I find that the best way to format is to do it the best way that works for you. So, as far as I'm concerned, as long as you keep the format pretty close to the "universal" format you should be fine. If you are trying to sell it professionally, I still don't think it's too bad if you do it the way you did. See if you can make any sense of that ;-).
