Will i get vingetting with the formatt matte box if im using either a century .6x or .7x wide angle?

Rhydon.

Doesnt the formatt have those adapter rings? Im not sure what thread size the centruy's are but would any one else happen to know? Or perhaps it has been done before?

Won't work. The Century .6 has an outside diameter of 95mm, the Formatt is 93mm. The Century .7 is 105mm.

I believe that there's a Birns & Sawyer Image 2000 mattebox that may work with the wide-angle adapter, but I'm not 100% sure.

Century's own new wide-angle mattebox should work with it...

I think it would be possible to use that matte box with the red eye wide angle. Go to www.vfgadgets.com I have heard it's a pretty good wide angle, designed to be very slim for just such an application.

The Pana 0.8x wide angle lens and the formatt mattebox won´t work... sorry.

Well, i think im going to stick with the century .6x wide angle. Seems to be the best bang for the buck.... I still want to be able to use a mattebox for under 400$ tho. I looked at the century optics wide angle matte box, but it is too expensive for me at this time. Heres my dilema:

I NEED to use the wide angle for an upcomming production, the Century .6x to be exact. It has an outer threading of 95mm. I would LIKE to be able to use a polarising filter and possibly some color filters with the wide angle adapter. Since the Century does not allow screw in filters the only option i am left with is a sun shade or a matte box.
Now, i like the idea of a sunshade/ matte box because i hear there are alot of problems with flaring with the wide angles, thus i could put some flags on the side and be all set.

So i need a sun shade that i can modify to hold custom side/ top flags, and need it to have a 95mm diamater. Is it possible to modify any of the century fx1 sunshades, or other cheaper sun shades to support this setup?

Hi,

There are no products currently made for what you are trying to do. The Century Wide Angle matte box will only work right with the .7x, not even the .6x. So, I think you will have to build something yourself if you desire to connect a polarizer filter and shade your lens.

Cardboard or construction paper would a good start.

if you put any additional 72mm filters/lens on the dvx with the formatt box, wont you get vignetting at full wide?
thanks

Oye! Time to get my scissors and glue out. DAMN i really thought i could use some sort of basic sun shade for this. alksjfgalskdjhglkajsdh!!!!!!
