Forest service use permits

Does anyone have any experience to share about obtaining special use permits from the Forest Service in order to shoot in a National Forest?

Any advice would be appreciated. Want to be prepared before I do.

Rules vary depending on what National Forest you are in. At my location in north Georgia rules are liberal. I am a one man crew with no actors or props and fit the documentary definition. If your activities are more than this then be prepared to deal with red tape and fees. There is a current legislation proposal H.R. 5502 designed to establish a $200 yearly permit to film on all federal agency lands and not have piece meal regulations at each. If you want to view a discussion on this check out http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=116938&highlight=film+permits

Good Luck...
