I am a part of a comedy group called Comedy Sportz, they are a nation wide (a couple of groups in Europe) improv group and our big tournament is out in LA in late August. I am not trying to advertise this group, sort of, but am just saying a fellow dvxuser is going to be in LA trying to make people laugh. Tournament info is here, with also a link to get tickets on that page. But shows are Thursday, August 25, Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at the Ivar Theatre, 1605 Ivar Avenue in Hollywood.
If you don't know what short form improv is, it is kind of like the show Who's Line is it Anyway with Drew Carey. Comedy Sportz is similar except we have 2 teams going head to head doing improv against each other.
I have been doing it for only about a year, so it was quite a privelage to be asked to go...even though for some reason all of the other people that were asked before me backed out. Curious. None-the-less, I am honored to be representing Quad Cities out there.
Maybe I will get to meet some fellow dvxusers out there? Or are there any fellow dvxusers that are in Comdy Sportz? Just thought I would throw that out there. Just look for the 6 foot tall, slim, black haired guy, I should probably stick out quite obviously. Thanks for your attentiveness.
