Hey guys, just got my Rifa88 today. Excellent soft light, durable, easy to setup in a short amount of time, ect

I have one question

I'm not too acquainted with these CFL lamps you can put in the Rifas to acheive daylight balance....

Which one should I get? I saw one fixture with this three lamp design and one without....which one is better?

I have the standard tungsten halogenquartz lamps in the lights now

Get the three lamp adapter. A single screw-in fluorescent provides little light. I made the mistake of buying the single adapter. You'll have a lot more options with the three lamp design.

I agree, get the FLO X3. You can always turn off one of globes and get less light, whereas with the one you can't go up. I'm using the Rifa 66 with the FLO X3 and it's my new favorite light. I may be able to help you with a discount if you're interested, we're a Lowel dealer.

I agree. Go with the flo X3. Also made the mistake of going with the single adapter and I agree, it's not enough light.

Curious - how are you guys storing the CFL's when in transport? Bubble wrap and a rubbermaid container? I've got a few in chinaballs at home and love them and might like to start taking them along in my kit.

That is EXACTLY how I am doing it. But I couldn't afford Rubbermaid so I got the el-cheapo ones from the grocery store.

And to DanHD, yes, get the 3 light fixture. With that, and some lamp doublers, you can fit 5 or 6 bulbs in there are really get some nice light going.

Thanks Perrone - yeah rubbermaid has apparently been drilled into my head a bit - my storage bins are all some cheap offbrand too...

Thanks guys!

so, after getting the three light adapter, will three lights even get closer to matching the output of the 1000w FEL quartz tungsten light I have in there at the moment?

Well, depends on which three lights you get. But it is quite possible you could get close or exceed the light from the stock bulb.

Which three lights should I get to have a close to 1000w output and where would I get them? (daylight balanced)

sorry perrone i'm always bothering you about this stuff....

Yea, I was looking for that online but couldn't remember the brand name. There's another maker out there too. Saw some in a 100-150w configuration. When the hardware stores open again, I am going to see if I can find some adapters and play around a bit.

Better not buy that particular 150w, it operates off of 347 volts. Be sure to check the voltage specs better:

Also, Maxlite used to be a great bulb for video use but they put a fan in the base now so they are noisy. One of our customers told me about it 2 years ago when I was still recommending that bulb. Our mogul-based 200w bulb we sell comes in 3200K and 5600K and definitely operates off of 110v 60 hz and no fan in the base.

Yeah guys, I bought the three bulb adapter..now to buy bulbs..

So can I buy any flouro daylight balanced 120v edison screw thread bulb? and it would most likely work?

There's no particular manufacturer Lowel reccommends is there?

And what kinds of bulbs to I purchase to daylight balance my DP Light and my Tota Light?

Those are tungsten-halogen as well currently
