i dont know why my track in Boujou its excelent, the 3d object move good...but when open 3dmax and import the script and the image on background ( moving) the track looks terrible!.
this are the steps.
1- import the scene from boujou tutorial ( the house )
2-track features - fast tracking - ok
3- Camera solve - optimize camera path smothness
4- add scene geometry - add cord from hint - connect
5- add test object - aligment - orient - orient and move- plane trough selected prediction.
6- export camara - all default

---------- from here its all good ----- but then in 3dmax...

7- open the script on perspective viewport in 3dmax- hit C - place the background and render.
8- the object in this case a single block start to jump from side to side and is far away of the movement who have in Bojou.

I used max briefly a while back but...it sounds like a scaling problem. Also I think one time I had boujou animating with a different frame rate than what my 3D program was set for. That really throws it off. I don't think it auto sets the frame rate on import(?). Anyways take a check on those two things and if I can suggest ?...you send a P.M. to Mark Johnson. He's an expert in max w/ boujou and (he's a busy guy though) may be able to help.

It shouldn't happened, if it worked well in Boujou Also, when you import into any 3D programs, the image sequences would come with it .

I asumed :
1 You traked in Boujou: and it went well.
2 You brought in 3Dmax: Is that still good when you playback?
3 You rendered out from Max : Bad things happened?

In theroy, If it works well in Boujou before exporting, and you's not change/modify anything after you imported to Max. When you render, it should be the same. All the setting should be perfectly transfered from the tracking program.
I would say... trying to do the tutorial again and checking each step making sure it's still working. You shoud get a good result.

thanks appy i think that the problem maybe was to select to many dots for place a geometry... becouse some dots ( in floor ) moves ... but when i select just one and adjust the geometry its a little better.

I'm in the same hole as you. I'm having problems getting wrapped around making the geometry of the scene correct. it looks right in Boujou but by the time you take it into the 3d program scaling is out of whack. And I know it's just because I'm missing a peice of the puzzle. I wish there were more tutorials for this program.

Not to sound abrupt but can you tell me...

What version of boujou & max are you using?
What is the type of file your working on, video (type) or image seq?
What is the destination frame rate in your 3D app?

-Thanks. Just wondering if I can help but will need more info.

yes i already saw all boujou tutorials, the frame rate its 25ftps.... once i import the sequence i saw that the frame rate its 25ftps so i dont know what can it be.
hey...dont make jokes about my english hehe. Lol ;) ...but seriously how can i fix the problem?

If you can send me a 2 second (or less) sample of the clip your having the problem with I'll take a look at it.

If you don't have a server you can upload a zipped file to www.FreeDrive.com where I can pick it up. If it's small, around 5 MB you can try e-mailing me directly with a file attachment.

//Edit: Oh, these are the tutorial images. I'll do a sample at 25fps with max and let you know how it goes shortly.

Did you remember (I never do) to change the default Y-up coordinate system?

Go to Edit->Preferences(or Options)->3D Display->Preferred Camera Orientation->Z-up, Y-forward.

Let me know if that works.

//Edit:

Actually both work for me. But maybe...
I see your viewport background is not using an enviroment.

I usually load the sequence into the enviroment background (Rendering->Enviroment->Use Map)

And set my viewport like...

thanks...yes after i post the problem here i place the background
image so that way i can see the animation, but whit the same result...
i think that the really problem of all , its that sequence ( pal, 25ftps , etc)
becouse i was using an NTSC sequence 30 fpts and the results was very good, almost
no problem in 3dmax settings and rendering.
anyway this is the link with the PAL sequence problem.

and this is the final render with a NTSC sequence.

It is pretty jumpy. I used to pick some target points and align the box corners to those but it's been a while since I've used max so I'm going to play around with it some more. When I figure out how I used to do it (again) I'll give you a shout. I try and get something up today.

//Scap that idea for now. The initial tracking points are still sliding quite a bit. Not a very good track.
I keep trying some things.

//I think it has to do with at what frame , 0 or 1, the tracking starts. Because the very last frame appears to overlap with the first. Continuing...
---------------------
// Just to test something I converted the image seq to targa's and tracked them with Voodoo.
I saved the camera track for both max & C4D.
Checking the tracking with both max & C4D showed a really good track from voodoo.

In the past with boujou 3 I found the trackings very comparable with voodoo, but with 4, I'm having the same problem, not getting good tracks in the 3D program. I'll keep trying though.

//Okay I got a good track. I've changed several things so let me narrow it down and I'll be back shortly.

Alright I came up with a working method that gave near perfect tracking.
I believe it still has to do with the start offset but I forget how to set that...
anyways, this way works near perfect for me...

* First , the image sequence files begin at tutorial1_cottage.001.jpg
Copy that file and paste somewhere else. Then change the name to tutorial1_cottage.000.jpg and put it back.That ensures the sequence starts at 000.

(//rotten editing.)

Next I changed the following settings in boujou...

* Edit->Preferences->Camera Export->General->Default Start Frame Index =
"Use first frame number of image sequence"

* Edit->Preferences->Camera Export->boujou Animation->Camera Format =
"Both Formats for each key"
(That may not be part of the fix, but that's where I have it set and have not verified it yet.)

---------
Everything else was (I think/hope) as before. 25fps in both project files,
Moving camera static scene and pretty much default settings.

---------
Again, let me know how that works . I may have adjusted something else in the process.

YES IT WORKS!!!!! ...firs of all....thank you very much , i was looking this like crazy haha ....seriusly...like crazy , well now i can say close post ;)

Whew. :) Glad you got it going.

I'm still checking some things, also with voodoo.
It does have to do with the frame offset, which I've figured out for C4D but not max yet. When I have the mess all sorted out maybe I'll write a 'getting started' tutorial.

In the meantime, having the image sequence start at 000 does eliminate some
other problems.
