For all the dad's

Had a great Father's Day....
I got to take my oldest daughter (21) out for breakfast and write her a check for college expenses.
My youngest (16 going on 35) is going through a "I Hate Dad" moment, so she didn't come along.....or call me.....or text me.

Great day!

My advise?
Enjoy them while they're young and you can still strap them in a chair without getting arrested!:2vrolijk_08:

This village?

Knowing where Max lives those are probably his neighbors.

The love they have you no matter what you're going through is just amazing to experience. I know they won't be babies for long so I'm cherishing these times.

hearing you talk about fatherhood really makes me think about what's important.

like me finding a way to trade my kids for richard's. :cheesy:

Roommates.

Ah, Silver Lake...I remember jogging around the reservoir, minding my own business and being catcalled by gay men driving by. I know what it must feel like to be a really attractive woman walking by a construction site.

Silverlake's changed a lot. It's young families and production professionals now. I mean, there's still a healthy gay population but I think that the days of the "Swish Alps" of Silverlake are probably over.

Anyway, take the catcalls as a compliment. That's what they are.

Yeah, I'm vain enough to have taken them as a compliment. But when it becomes borderline stalking it ceases to be flattering. That was 20 years ago when I was an 18 year old rube, so I'm sure Silver Lake has changed, as it already was by the time I moved out.

We're probably moving out of Silverlake pretty soon, too - not that we don't love the place (it's my favorite out of everywhere I've lived since leaving Maryland) but we also love big old craftsman houses, and for one of those we're heading up to Pasadena. Only nine miles away as the crow flies but a very very different vibe...

Hey wait. You used to live in Maryland?

Jealous...Always wanted one of those but realized the only way I could afford real estate was to move out of the country.

Yes. I grew up just outside of Washington DC.

I was lucky the first time around: bought the present place when the market bottomed in 1993. Since this looks like another market bottom - or close to it - we decided to make the stretch and go for something we really like (although we're still spending a lot more than anticipated - my accountant keeps patting me on the head and assuring me that it's all good but large purchases always unnerve me...)
