For A Laugh!

Been looking on feebay at Canon XL1(s)...and have found something that may be cause for a little guffaw! This is also the case for the DVX-100as that I've seen being hawked there also.
I know that Canon has made a lot of the XL series. Maybe a quarter of a million or so since the first XL1. Panny sells like 3-5000 DVX-100as MONTHLY, or so says a tracking site I follow. That's a lot of cameras, so it is quite possible that many are bought by wanna-be film makers/videographers, that once they get it, don't use it because of lack of interest, ability, etc.
But EVERY unit listed on feebay is "barely used", "under 10 hours", or some such crap. I have a "barely" used Canon XL1 as a back-up to my other cameras, and it has over 20 hours THIS YEAR ALONE: 2005. And I'm not a professional.
I know that people are just "jazzin' for the sale", but to anyone that knows the use/life-cycle of these cameras are aware of the true number of hours these cams get used.
BTW, got that XL1 at a cop auction is a very small Midwest town of 3000. Some drug-dealer was using it to record his in-home orgies. As it was purchased from illegal drug money, was confiscated and sold at auction. Poor sheriff deputy didn't have a clue what he was selling. "Thought" it was a Hi8mm or something camera. Didn't know if it was working either. Sold to me, one bid $85. Also, got camera home, found mini DV tape inside. Hmmm....uploaded it into Premiere Pro....Yuppr, he WAS filming a little in-home porn! (Worst cameraman this side of Amatuer Hell!)
Oh, camera worked great. Was clean as any pros I've ever seen. Clean on the inside! Had a swab taken on the camera grip, positive for crystal meth....

A deputy on the department gave me a heads up on the auction. He's a good friend and fraternity brother of mine, also a Narc officer. As a "hoot" he swab checked the strap, lens collar, and eye peice. All positive for meth. They also "confiscated" the dv tape as "evidence". Hey, no complaints here, after all the price I paid.....;)

Heh! - I am sure the cam was BARE-ly used... :-P

(where is tongue-in-cheek smiley when you need one?)
