Any suggestions?

We are shooting some high school games (football) this season, three dvx 100"s.
24p or 60i?
best way to sync?

Thanks,
Dave

Not being that experienced myself, I bet all the other people here are going ask what your intended distrubution method is.

I do alot of video of sport kite flying (fast action usually), and I like shooting 30P.  I'd take a look at that myself.

Oh, and as for syncing the cameras, I'd asy put them in free-run timecode (basically the time code is the time of day, once you set it once for all cameras, the timecode will be the same across all cameras. You get lots of timecode breaks if you start and stop often.)

Yes, 30P might be worth looking at. I would suggest either 30P or 60i, since it most likely will be a little too stroby with 24P and the fast camera motions. You will probably want to use a little fast shutter than normally (minimum 1/60).

If you have the opportunity, why not bring your dvx to a game before the actual one and shoot some test footage in different modes and experiment! That is the best way to learn!

Regarding syncing, go for free run on all cameras. Set it up either by placing the cameras tight to each other and use the same remote to adjust them all at once. If that don't work for you a simple "one, two, three!" with each operator pushing their cameras buttom will work out ok as well.

Re: football and the dvx

The games will be cut on dv (Sony Vegas). The local cable company takes it from there. We are shooting a pre-season game in a couple weeks to test. I thought 24p was pushing it. Love the look though.

Thanks,
Dave

You'll get a similar 'look' with 30P, but without the strobiness
(is that a word?) of 24P....especially for something as fast paced as football. Good luck-
