Footage looks better in L&T than Browser and Timeline

I've just started experimenting with my 200A, and I'm noticing a distinct redness to the footage I've shot once I've transferred it into FCP 6 that isn't there in the log & transfer preview screen. I'm not sure why it would matter, but I was shooting 720/24PN. Why would it look better in preview than once it's transferred? Is there a setting I'm missing when ingesting?

Thanks,

Clint

Never judge the quality of your footage using a computer screen. Only an external HD monitor or TV. L&T window is even lower quality than the Canvas and Viewer.

Good to know re: the computer screen vs. monitor. I wouldn't have expected the L&T preview to look better than the Canvas, which is why I was surprised that it did.

So am I to understand, then, that I shouldn't be doing my editing on my 30" Dell, only with an HD monitor or TV?

Editing on your computer monitor is fine...that is what we all use. As for judging the quality of the image, that won't do. An external HD production monitor or HDTV, and capture card capable of getting the signal to those monitors, are required for that.

So just to be clear....

So just to be clear....

....my 2560x1600 native, dual-DVI 30" Dell Monitor isn't good enough to judge the quality of the image coming off my 200A at 720/1080?

I'm not questioning, I'm seriously asking. I'm new to videography. I bought the monitor for graphic design and CG, assuming it would be also be perfectly fine for editing HD footage. If it's not, I really need to know.
