footage in WMV from the HD mod

so, obin, you bought the upgrade? I thought it wasnt for sale yet, just beta testing in different states at a time?? i gotta call them

funny thimg is i feel this is enough resolution...its like you can shoot 16mm or 35mm....both provide a picture you can use. this is how i feel about our modded dvx. no longer the problem of 'video' even '24p video' and all the issues and lack of resolution and color that go with it...just some random thoughts..;)

i have a shoot all next week...after that i will take a look inside our older dvx100 and see what the deal is with removing lens...,the more i work with raw hd fromit the more i see the limitations it has....soft...green/pink/blue edges etc....a question; does anyone on here know of a really sharp 1/3rd inch f1.4-1.8 23-35mm c-mount lens?
i will need to locate one for this camera soon...

Soft, as in the DVX lens isn't up to the HD challenge or the colors are soft? I'm sure the greens would be a little soft due to the large amount of processing with the green channel.

ok ok ....kiss/hugs all around...;)

i am in the hotel...lots more shooting/test to do when i get back in town, we have some real work on the slate for the killer micro35/HD combo in
the next few weeks...not to mention the amazing vfx shot we are working on....stay tuned..

Beautiful

Beautiful

That's absolutely incredible, and it looks like it'll potentially be well worth the $3000 when it's released.

My question is, does anyone have any clips/pictures of Andromeda footage Without a 35mm lense on it? I'm wondering what Andromeda output looks like with the standard DVX100a lense.

I'm still buffering the footage but I'll write anyways. The stills look awesome. I think that with all the 35mm conversions and now this HD conversions, someone should design a new chassis for the DVX100. I only have one DVX100 and I use it for my job so I can really take it apart to design a new chassis, but I'll do some minor modeling in 3d of what a new chassis design could potentially look like. If we could make something were you would move all your electronics over to it, and then be able to have interchangable lenses and a built in hard drive for recording stuff, then we'd be like creating a new camera. Fun stuff. Elsmacko, remember that so far all the footage is coming through the DVX100 lense.

Obin,
Props to you man. I look at what you're doing and I'm impressed as hell. You've done some amazing **** and I have to give you my respect.

DAMN...just watched the footage. Damn... it's soo tight. Everything is just...clear. Looks friggin' awesome. And that has compression too. Wow. I can't wait to be working in HD although I probably won't buy an HD camera comes until I can deliver in HD. I mostly do weddings and whatnot. It won't be economical until I can deliver in HD and people have HD players. Whatever format that may become.

Thanks Obin for opening my eyes to the potential of the DVX100.

it's a real product, not cheesepuff, panasonic hit the nail on the head with the dvx, and now we take it to new levels..;)

i am still out of town, Next week we shoot our first 'real' project with the setup, stay posted.

shoot is done, dealing with 30+ gigs of raw 24fps HD footage is no easy task..workflow workflow workflow....I am thinking about taking a close look at Avid as they have a good codec that allows editing on the standard PC and datarates that could run over GigeLink network, plus it's a 10bit codec! footage looks really good, it's so much data I am converting most of it to SD un-compressed, we used the micro35 M2 Adapter, really nice. I bought some Nikkor glass, also really nice. The new m2 adapter has an amazing new GG inside that has much less light loss then standard GG, I had a few issues with the Micro35 but overall it's nice, I am sure the feedback I will supply them with they will use to make it even better.

After we get the process done of conversion from raw data into tiff files I will have some stills and motion to show. Amazing stuff we are dealing with. The ReelStream beta + the micro35 M2...a Killer image making combo to be sure. nothing I have ever seen can touch the look of this combo outside of 35mm motion picture film.

has this product come on the market? I called reel-stream 4 weeks ago- and they said they were expecting it to come on the market in 4 weeks. Any updates dudes?

Wow...a hard long day of studio shooting is now over, we shot 30gigs of greenscreen footage today with motion tracking markers on our cyc wall and our 18' remote head jib system, I will be in the studio processing the footage to HD. We will also be doing the motion tracking, this project is going to be a flash website with lots of CGI on and around our motion tracked footage...I will send everyone a link once it's up online..should be really nice..

The footage from my last post has been cut into a really nice looking commercial spot...anyone want to see it?
I took the easy road and did the conversion to SD 4:4:4 instead of HD...saved space, and allowed for a standard edit in premiere pro, also what's the point of rendering to HD when the finished product will be SD..if you have the colorspace and no compression I don't see the reason for HD...just MHO...unless you have true pixel perfect HD with each chip spitting out 1280x720 etc..
