footage in canvas not as good as footage in viewer

I just started using FCP. Here's my problem:

I captured some footage. Dragged it to the viewer. Applied the 'Rotate' effect to the footage in the viewer to flip image right side up(35mmadapter footage). marked and dragged clips to the canvas window. Played back footage in canvas window and it appears to have lost quality compared the footage in viewer.

Is it because I applied the effect to the footage in the viewer?

Any input would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks!

I've got a mate who tested this - said it mucked about with your footage res.

I tested it out meself - didn't seem to make a difference.

Hope that's helpful.

Viewer is just a proxy for actual image quality evaluation a rendered timeline out to DV on a real TV or broadcast monitor is what your footage actually looks like.

check your playback quality settings. you probably do not have it set to FULL. likely set to DYNAMIC or something else.
