footage flicker problems when exporting to AVI

Can you tell I'm having problems with Premiere?

How come certain DVX footage flickers when you export from premiere to an AVI. Certain shots flicker up and down crazily, like the black bars keep shifting every nano-second. One shot will be perfectly normal, then the next is flicker-crazy.

Wuddup with that?

Sounds a little like the documented luminance problem with 24pn footage on export - or reversed fields.

Depends on which problem (if either). If it's a luminance issue it can supposedly be fixed with the proc amp filter in Premiere. The support knowledge base or forum on the Adobe site explains it in detail.

If it's reversed fields you can double check it in the "settings" sub-menu when you go to export. Should be "lower field first."

Are you working with a 16x9 project? cause if you are, I had the same prob... The image looks like it's jumping back and forth between 4x3 and 16x9, but plays normal in your premiere project... if it is the same thing, I will try and retrace my steps on how I got it resolved...

I have had the same issue with anamorphic footage from the dvx. Basically for me it only happens on an AVI export for DVD, when I create a webfile (mv, QT file) the problem does not exist.

My issue however is resolved when the AVI project is burnt to DVD, when played back through an external DVD player or DVD player software on my pc it recognises the 16:9 aspect ratio and no problems.

Hope this info helps.
